Answered By Bailey Alberello, Editor

No. hiking packs varies in sizes, styles and available features. They are made for specific purposes and greatly differ in their anatomy and features. Backpacks are divided into different categories.

- Waist/hips/fanny/lumbar packs are not official backpacks however it can replace your traditional backpacks for smaller day hikes with simplest versions - pouch and belts.

- Hydration packs have bladders with a drinking tube around in which the actual backpack has been constructed.

- Day packs refers to backpacks having small sizes. They have straps on shoulders without hip belts. They are especially used for day hikes. Some has incorporated with strap on the chest keeping the shoulders steady without leaning back due to the pack weight.

- Midsize packs are used for small inventory multiple hikes in a day. They are perfect for individuals who wanted to go hike at the same time bringing books or cameras.

- Expedition backpacks were created with larger sizes that enable them to carry enough gears keeping an individual on the trail for weeks.
