If you love to camp with your family, then you know that it is one of the best ways to create wonderful family memories: sharing special experiences, traveling to new places, and enjoying the beauty of nature really is a vacation that is truly all-American. But if you want to have a successful camping trip, you know that the right equipment can make…or break….your vacation. Of everything on your camping gear list, having the right tent may be the most important. If you are in need of a great family tent, then you may want to consider the Eureka Headquarters Tent and the Columbia Cougar Flats II.

Few things ruin a camping vacation quicker than a rain-soaked tent (and everything in it) or roasting in a hot tent with no ventilation in the middle of the summer. The Eureka Headquarters Tent is designed to deal with both of these very common situations.

Two doors, each with their own windows, and two additional large windows create a great ventilation in this tent, so you will be comfortable if you enjoy summertime camping. Plus, you will stay dry if you have rainy weather, as the Eureka Headquarters Tent uses it's "Stormshield" to increase the tent's resistance to rain and durability, as well as a heavy-duty "bathtub floor" which repels water.

What if your needs include a large tent for camping with your family or group? You may find that the Columbia Cougar Flats II is the right choice for you.

Anyone who has camped, especially with kids, knows that trying to cram everyone, and everyone's gear, into a little tent can be challenging. By the time you get the sleeping bags, air mattresses, clothing, supplies, and anything else that is deemed "necessary" into the tent, there is often no room left for the people. This is what makes the Columbia Cougar Flats II so perfect for family camping. While there are a number of things to like about the Columbia Cougar Flats II, the size is definitely one of the highlights. The 10 ft. by 15 ft. size allows you to have plenty of room to spread out, and you can even have two nice sized "rooms": parents can be on one side, and kids on the other, or maybe have everyone sleep on one side and use the other for a "living" area. This tent can sleep up to 8, making it a good choice for anyone camping with a large family or group.

Camping can create warm and wonderful family memories like no other vacation. Choosing the right tent for your family will insure that your vacation is remembered for good experiences, and not miserable ones. The Eureka Headquarters Tent and the Columbia Cougar Flats II both are super choices for a great tent and a great family camping vacation.

Camping with your family can be a fun experience but not having the right gear can make your trip miserable. Want to be certain that you have a wonderful camping vacation? Find out more about the Eureka Headquarters Tent and the Columbia Cougar Flats IItent, read the product reviews from those who love using theirs, and see if one is the right tent for your family.

Hiking is one of the few activities that can actually improve your mental, physical and spiritual health and well being. Not to mention that it can be a welcome departure from your daily routine.

Twice a week, you can find me at a local or state park putting a few trail miles under my feet. Chances are excellent that you have a few good hiking spots in your area. You don't have to plan a vacation to go hiking, but I do on occasion.

Sometimes we get so closely involved with problems at work or issues at home that we need to step back. Hiking can give you the space you need to see these issues with clarity. Maybe you're a walking victim of information overload. Just listening to nature can calm the mind. Hiking gives you time to think or avoid thinking.

The challenges you face in daily life might not seem so daunting once you've completed a section of challenging trail. Hiking can present you with all sorts of terrain and obstacles. As a result, you may feel there's nothing you can't do. Everything else is put into perspective.

Physically, the benefits are staggering. Hiking can decrease your resting blood pressure, increase your stamina, help you lose weight if you're on a diet and prevent heart disease. It's a great cardio workout and the view from the treadmill cannot compare with the view from the trail.

From the earth, to the earth. As we are a part of nature itself, learning about the earth's precious natural resources, we begin to take more responsibility for them and all who share them. That's how a global society makes progress.

I can't think of a more exciting family activity. I've seen hiking mend the rifts between father and son, husband and wife and the outdoor memories created among friends you'll cherish for the rest of your life.

One of the best things about day hiking is that you don't need much gear to get going. Before you head out on the trail, learn the basic Leave No Trace principles that will foster a safe and responsible outdoor experience. What are you waiting for? Go take a hike!

My favorite mental component is the time you have to think, or avoid thinking. We tend to get so closely involved with issues at work or problems at home that we just don't see them clearly enough to make good decisions. You may suffer from information overload and just want to quiet the mind listening to nature.

The challenges you face in daily life might not seem so daunting once you've completed a section of challenging trail. Hiking can present you with all sorts of terrain and obstacles. As a result, you may feel there's nothing you can't do. Everything else is put into perspective.

Improvements hiking can provide for your physical health are remarkable. Your resting blood pressure will decrease, eliminating hypertension, the heart muscle will strengthen preventing heart disease, you'll see a noticeable increase in stamina and if you're on a diet, hiking can help you lose weight.

From the earth, to the earth. As we are a part of nature itself, learning about the earth's precious natural resources, we begin to take more responsibility for them and all who share them. That's how a global society makes progress.

You've put together plans for an incredible adventure. You've picked a remote destination and put together an elite group of adventurers (or maybe just some people you like to hangout with). You've planned a menu for eating better than you do at home.

The only problem is you have to carry everything on your back; first aid gear, food and cooking utensils, clothing, tents, etc… Not only do you have to carry it, but how are you going to fit it all into your backpack?

So how can we lighten your pack?

Well, heres the 6 fundamentals to cutting backpack weight:

Fundamental #1 – Look at the biggest and heaviest things first. Replacing a 5 pound pack with a 1 pound pack saves you 4 pounds! Replacing a 7 pound tent with a 1 pound tarp saves you 6 pounds! By picking just two of the heaviest items of gear you've already shaved over 10 pounds and we've only just begun.

Fundamental #2 – Find multiple uses for one item. The more uses you can find for one item the less items you'll have to take.

Fundamental #3 – Find the lightest and smallest gear you can. Take a smaller LED flashlight or headlamp, consider taking an old Gatorade bottle instead of those big wide- mouth Lexan bottles. And don't forget lightweight cook pots or just one pot and use zip-lock bags to mix and eat in. By themselves these substitutions may not seem like much, but in combination they add up.

Fundamental #4 – Get rid of that big backpack. With a big backpack you have a tendancy to fill it, but with a smaller backpack, you just don't have the room. Hence, you'll usually be a little more picky about what you bring.

Fundamental #5 – Forget it at home. Everyone has forgotten something before, it's always amazing how you were able to get along without it. So ask yourself, do you really need those extras?

Fundamental #6 – Evaluate you gear. After each trip look at what you used and what you didn't. After a few trips you'll be able to tell what can go and what can't.

I used to have a buddy that I backpacked with that would be bring everything and some spares. His backpack weighed a ton, but he always had extras. Then it hit me, why not just forget more at home and borrow all those extras, he's bringing them anyways.

I remember I was almost to the point of just bringing my pillow in my pack, when he figured it out and decided to go lightweight. Well, all good things must come to an end.

Hopefully these tips can help take the burden off your back.

by Don Korte

Summer is right around the corner which means it's time for the family vacation. The problem is that these economic times are harsh and it can be hard to find an affordable and enjoyable trip that the family can take. Going on a camping trip is a great solution that not only is fun, but will save a ton of money.

There are huge, top quality tents that can fit an entire family that cost much less than a few nights in a hotel room. And you will be able to use these tents over and over again, instead of only once like a hotel. Take repeated trips all summer long and keep the tent for the years to follow as well.

The activities you can do while youre camping are endless. Take a hike thru the woods, take pictures of the scenery, view wildlife, and most importantly build memories with the family that will last a lifetime.

The most important thing though is that you will be building great, long lasting memories and impressions that are going to stick with you, your kids and your friends for an entire lifetime. You'll be able to look back years later and share great stories and recollections together, and nothing is more important in life than that close family bond.

There are lots of benefits to camping outdoors. The one that comes to my mind first is the chance to get away from the everyday grind. The opportunity to get away and relax in a different setting can help you clear your mind and can make you more productive when you do return to your everyday life.

As a society we spend way too much time indoors. We watch television and play video games and browse the internet all night. It's time to get outdoors, get some fresh air and soak up everything that nature has to offer us.

Taking that first camping trip together can start a new family tradition that will last for years. Camping is a classic American hobby and pastime that not everyone from around the world is lucky enough to take part in.

All around the country there are different camping locations and opportunities for you to go to and take part in. You could setup a tent on your own property or you can take a fun road trip to an entirely new destination. A family camping trip will build amazing memories while keeping your budget soundly intact.

Let me ask you a simple question. Have you ever thought of backpacking? Well, if you have been thinking of the adventure and fun you will have while backpacking, then you are at the right place. This article will offer tell you why you should backpack.

What is backpacking? Backpacking is a term that has historically been used to denote a form of low-cost, independent international travel. Terms such as independent travel and/or budget travel are often used interchangeably with backpacking.

If you are thinking of going backpacking but cannot find a friend at home who'll come with you, why don't you go on your own? Let me tell you why you should.

Well another way you can backpack is by backpacking alone. You do not need to travel with your friends as many people travel alone. Well, if you aren't confident. Trust me; you will make friends on your journey.

The best tips I can offer you; the easiest way to make friends is to get involved in activities. Join a group of people to scuba dive. I am sure you'll make friends there. Alternatively, simply strike up a conversation in the hostel. Make sure you do it with a smile. You can say something simple like 'Hey guys I am on my own. Mind if I join you?' Sounds very simple, right?

Here's one more really good reason for backpacking: You can really get out of your working life. Traveling on your own lets you literally leave everything behind – work, family and friends.

Well if you are living behind your boy/girlfriend, here's a tip that I can offer you. You should take a timeout before you leave. Well, if you are in a serious relationship the I suggest that you both should come out with ground rules when you are away.

Backpacking on your own is a brave decision, but make sure you know the purpose of your travel so that you can maximize your experience.

How? Well you should do a research on the country or countries that you are going. The next thing that you should note is money. Traveling alone with not so much cash needs can be quite difficult. Next, learn how to manage your cash.

The next reason why you should go backpacking is because it helps you become comfortable dealing with the unfamiliar. Traveling is hard for the first few weeks because you are dealing with constantly unfamiliar situations and surroundings.

It always helps to carry a guide book around so that you can figure your way around. Well, if you are thinking that ou will get home sick trust me, the first week will be difficult but after that, you'll be enjoying your adventure.

Bringing home the different perspective of life is priceless. Some may be wondering why I say this. Simple, you have a first hand experience of different cultures and knowledge.

How? You should try to participate in as much activities as you can while you are in another country. And the last tip I can give you is that you should learn as much as you can about the culture of the people in the country.

Now that you are armed with this knowledge, I am sure you will be confident enough to set off into this learning experience on your own.

Two of the most thrilling outdoor activities for individuals and families would have to be backpacking or hiking. When choosing an outdoor activity with such an element of the unknown it is important to prepare for every scenario before heading off on the backpacking or hiking trail. Backpacking or hiking requires supplies and essentials to make the event more safe and secure.

Sun Protection. Sun protection is very important when backpacking or hiking. Sun protection comes in several forms and all need to be covered. The skin is the first line of protection against the sun while backpacking or hiking, sunscreen should be waterproof and offer an SPF of at least 30. The second area to protect while backpacking or hiking are the eyes. The sun can be bright and cause sudden spots of blindness, which is something that is never needed when backpacking or hiking. Sunglasses and an extra pair or two, should always be packed.

Safety First. Many people forget about safety when backpacking or hiking, but there can be problems and when there are, a whistle can help. Depending on where you are backpacking or hiking, a whistle with no "pea" (the small ball in the center) may be the best choice. If the backpacking or hiking is taking place during cold months, the "pea" could freeze. Along those same lines, a plastic whistle will be sure to never stick to your lips in the cold.

Bring lots of water. Water is one of the heaviest things you will pack into your bundle when backpacking or hiking, yet it is essential to life. When backpacking or hiking, it is always better to have more than you need and a filtration device is the best way to ensure a constant supply of water. In case of emergency, a filtration device designed for the outdoors can filter any water supply making it drinkable.

Starting a fire. For those overnight trips, a firestarter or set of waterproof matches are ideal for a little warmth and a warm meal. But, many backpacking and hiking trips are only day trips and the backpacking and hiking team feel they may not need these things. One the contrary, as a safety measure, every member should include a way to start a fire in their packing essentials.

First aid first. A first aid kit should be prepared for every backpack used during the backpacking and hiking trip. If only one packer has access to a first aid kit, the other hikers will be unable to provide first aid in the case that the group loses touch with each other. A first aid kit should include a pocket knife and a set of pocket tools for everyone.

Finding your way. When in an environment that is not native, there needs to be a way to stay on track with the trail. This is especially important just in case a member or two gets lost from the rest of the backpacking and hiking team. A compass and a map needs to be included in every pack. Today, there are even GPS locators that can be used when traveling through nature on foot.

Hiking and backpacking are great ways to get a little physical activity and become better acquainted with nature and life outside. Together as a team, the backpacking and hiking group needs to make sure that every pack includes these essentials as a base and build the pack from there.

Have you ever wondered how it is to actually travel alone? Well, I know because I have been backpacking. I know how it feels to go to a new place and learn something new, and also make new friends. If you don't know anything about backpacking, read this article because I am going to offer you some tips/reasons.

Backpacking is a low cost travel. Backpackers often travel to a lot of places and they budget their amount of money used for travel. So, if you think you are up for it go ahead and start packing for your trip.

You do not want to travel because no one wants to follow you? Well, don't worry. You can go on your own. Let me tell you why.

Trust me on this; you won't be alone for long. Trust me a month of backpacking does not mean a month of loneliness. There are many other like minded people traveling the way you are.

Do you have a hectic and busy life? Well, here is a good reason you can get out of it. Take a break; go backpacking. Leave all your problems at home and travel.

If you are serious about your boy/girlfriend, you should probably take a time out with them before you leave. Another way to deal with it is to come up with some ground rules about what's acceptable while you are apart from each other.

Making the decision to travel solo is a great step, but make sure you know the purpose of your travel so that you can maximize your experience.

If you think that you don't know what you are doing, you should do some research about the countries you are going to before setting off? The other thing you should remember is that you also should learn how to manage you money well. The best suggestion I can give you is that you should take some pointer on managing your money.

Dealing with different environments can be difficult but I assure you that while backpacking it may be hard for the first week but you will get the hang of it. Taking care of yourself and also learn from the new environment can be surprisingly easy.

If you are thinking that you need more confidence while traveling, carry a guide book with you. It helps if the guide books contain phrases that are commonly used in a country in their language.

Some people go backpacking because they want to learn new things and experience a different lifestyle. Some go because they want to bring home a whole new perspective of life.

What more can you ask for? Gain as much knowledge by experiencing what locals do and how they spend their day.

In conclusion, it is always a great idea to go for backpacking. Do ensure that you have ample preparation so that you can make your backpacking experience more fulfilling
